2017 Pele Awards: The Musical

On April 22, 2017, guests at the 2017 Pele Awards were in for a surprise: Pele Awards: The Musical. I had the honor of serving as bookwriter, songwriter, and lead performer for the show, which brought a little theatrical chaos to HawaiÊ»i’s premier advertising awards banquet.

Held in the Royal Hawaiian Hotel's Monarch Room, the musical was a collaboration between me and Jason Lent of LENT Enterprises, the agency producing that year’s awards show. The story follows Dane the Puppet, a young ad intern trying to get his foot in the door, a storyline loosely inspired by real experiences in the industry. I co-wrote 11 original songs with Jason, which were performed by local singers, actors, and dancers, and together we delivered a message to industry professionals that Everyone Deserves a Shot.
